Q. Is Blomidon Financial is available for evening appointments and house calls?
A. Yes, we're available with notice.
Q. Does Blomidon support areas outside of the Bay of Islands?
A. Yes, our clients are located all over Newfoundland & Labrador and we do travel to see them regularly.
Q. How does Blomidon get paid?
A. We receive commissions and service fees from the companies with whom we place business. We do not accept a fee for our service from our clients. However, we do let our clients know that we work on referrals and that’s the best payment or compliment they could give us for a job well done.
Q. What happens if my financial representative dies, disappears, or become disabled?
A. Like all advisors in the industry including the banks, your money is in no way tied to your advisor’s well being. For example, if your advisor died, your life insurance policy, investment or etc. stays with the company with whom you have the contract or investment. Our role is solely as a broker. Should something happen to your advisor, you would be reassigned a new representative or you are free to move the business to an accredited individual of your choosing.
Q. How much does it cost me to move my investments to you from my current institution or advisor?
A. It usually costs nothing to move investments from one manager to another or from one institution to another. However, a small administrative charge may be applied depending on the institution. There may be charges associated with your investments depending on a Deferred Sales Charge (DSC) Schedule. This schedule does cost money to break, but there is no charge to reassign the investment to a new advisor or make changes within that same fund company. You would be advised in the case of having any fees associated with any transaction with which Blomidon Financial is involved.
Q. Would I have to cash out my RRSPs to move them to you?
A. Absolutely not. RRSPS get transferred and stay 100% tax sheltered during the transfer. A simple government form allows this to be the case.
Q. How do I know if I’m adequately insured?
A. Many factors are involved with this question. Your insurance needs can change as you age and as major life events occur. The insurance you have in place today may be inadequate or far too sufficient. Proper insurance reviews using a need assessment calculator are necessary. We complete these assessments with clients regularly.
Q. Is Blomidon Financial owned by another business?
A. No. Blomidon Financial is not owned by another company. Blomidon Financial is a privately owned entity that is contracted directly with several Managing General Agencies. These MGA's hold contracts to support the different insurance companies and investment providers available to Blomidon Financial. Mutual funds are through Investia Financial Services Inc.
Q. Why is the independent advisor network the best solution for me?
A. Independent agents are the type of wealth managers who are able to select from all the products available in the marketplace - making sure you get the right product for your individual needs.
Q. Can I move existing insurance contracts under your management should I choose to do so?
A. Yes and at no cost to you.
Q. Is my privacy protected?
A. Yes your privacy is 100% protected. Strict guidelines are imposed on all agents within the industry to keep clients privacy at the highest standard. With only one manager operating independent from a branch channel your privacy is even further protected from those who could otherwise gain access.
Q. Does Blomidon offer funds that are socially responsible?
A. Yes, green and ethical funds are offered and widely used.
