Q. Are you available for evening appointments and house calls?
A. Yes, I am available with notice.
Q. Do you support areas outside of the Bay of Islands?
A. Yes, though the majority of my clients are located on the west coast, I do travel to many parts of Newfoundland & Labrador regularly.
Q. How do you get paid?
A. I receive commissions and service fees from the companies with whom I place business. At present, I have decided not to accept a fee for my services from my clients. I prefer to work for them and get paid by the supplier who offers the best product for my clients at the best price. That said, for clients who still insist on paying something I do let them know that I work on referrals and that’s the best payment or compliment they could give me for a job well done.
Q. What happens if my financial representative dies, retires, or becomes disabled?
A. Like all advisors in the industry, including the banks, your money is in no way tied to your advisor’s well being. For example, if your advisor died, your life insurance policy, investment, etc. stays with the company with whom you have the contract or investment. Our business relationship can be defined as a brokerage. Should something happen to your advisor, you would be reassigned a new representative or are free to move the business to an accredited individual of your choosing.
Q. How much does it cost me to move my investments to you from my current institution or advisor?
A. It usually costs nothing to move investments from one manager to another or from one institution to another. However, a small administrative charge may be applied depending on the institution. There may be charges associated with your investments depending on a Deferred Sales Charge (DSC) Schedule. This schedule does cost money to break, but there is no charge to reassign the investment to a new advisor or make changes within that same fund company. You would be advised in the case of having any fees associated with any transaction with which Blomidon Financial is involved.
Q. Would I have to cash out my RRSPs to move them to you?
A. Absolutely not. RRSPs stay 100% tax sheltered during the transfer. A simple government form allows you to transfer your RRSP anytime from financial institution to financial institution.
Q. How do I know if I’m adequately insured?
A. Many factors are involved in answering this question. Your insurance needs will change as you age and as major life events occur. The insurance you have in place today may be inadequate or perhaps far too sufficient. Proper insurance reviews using a need assessment calculator are necessary. I complete these assessments with clients regularly.
Q. Can I move existing insurance contracts under your management should I choose to do so?
A. Yes and at no cost to you.
Q. Is my privacy protected?
A. Yes your privacy is 100% protected. Strict guidelines are imposed on all agents within the industry to keep client privacy and security at the highest standard. With only one manager operating as an independent, your privacy is even further protected from those who could otherwise gain access.
Q. Does Blomidon offer funds that are socially responsible?
A. Yes, green and ethical funds are offered and often used.
